This is a robotic shot peening machine for large diesel engine crankshafts. The shot peening cabinet is 17 feet long and has an angled sliding door which permits crankshaft loading from overhead. Parts are supported in the machine between a headstock and tailstock. The headstock has a drive pin that mates with the end of the crank and a servo motor control drive which provides precise radial positioning. The tailstock is mounted on rails and automatically adjusts for different part lengths. A single shot peening nozzle is manipulated by a 5-axis gantry robot which targets journal fillets and cheeks.
Standard
CNC provides 5 axes of coordinated control of the nozzle and 2 axes for part and tailstock position. This level of control provides simple changeover from V-12, V-16 & V-20 diesel engine crankshafts in standard and long stroke configurations via simple program selection.
Optional
