This Peening System is designed to wet peen fan blade airfoils (up to 10” dia. x 36” tall) using glass bead. The airfoils are loaded six at a time onto a six spindle positioner. The wet peening nozzle is manipulated by a Fanuc M710i robot to provide maximum flexibility for processing various parts. A manual station allows processing of individual parts.  Peening media is suspended in water and pumped to the spray nozzle where it is accelerated toward the part by compressed air.  After impacting the part, the media and water collect in a tank at the bottom of the cabinet where a recirculating agitator keeps the media in suspension.  A Sweco screening system and paper bed filter are provided to classify the reclaimed media and remove fines and debris.
