Small Lathe HVOF Spray Landing Gear Components
Flexibility to run a wide variety of part geometries
The high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) process is widely used in the aerospace industry to replace coatings applied by chrome plating. The application of the HVOF process is safer for operators than hard chromium electroplating, which generates hexavalent chromium, a known carcinogen, as a byproduct.
This HVOF torch can be configured for natural gas as well as other fuel-gas options. Asymmetrical components require custom counterbalances for smooth rotation up to the lathe’s 1,000 RPM capability.
- FANUC articulating arm robot manipulates the Stellite Jet Kote HVOF torch
- Custom lathe can rotate parts up to 63” long with a 30” swing radius
- Computer Integrated Thermal Spray (CITS) operator interface includes consumables tracking
- Closed-loop gram-rate controlled powder feeder
- Robot-mounted infrared temperature sensor
- Spray process and production-ready motion program development (optional)
